In addition to providing ideas and feedback on NURVE programs and capital projects to the NURVE Committees and City and County policy makers, the Youth Advisory Council also helps facilitate community focus groups and encourages other youth to become involved in their community.
Their goals are to:
- be leaders in their community
- inspire the next generation of youth
- succeed
- have a voice in their community
- recruit other youth to participate in community planning and events
- help make their community and school better
The Council is coordinated the Richmond Community Foundation, and grew out of work undertaken at Kennedy HS through the UC Berkeley Center for Cities & Schools Y-PLAN (Youth -- Plan, Learn, Act, Now!) initiative.
