David Snyder is Chief Development Officer for the Richmond Community Foundation. Having recently served as Executive Director of the Berkeley Public Library Foundation, Mr. Snyder comes to Richmond with over twenty years of nonprofit management and fundraising experience. In January 2010, Mr. Snyder coordinated the launching of a $3.5 million capital campaign to assist with the renovation of the four branch libraries in Berkeley and in 2011 led the public advocacy campaign to insure that the projects moved forward.

In the fall of 2009 David and his wife Judy relocated to the Bay area, from New Hampshire, where they lived and raised their family for almost thirty years. Formerly the executive director of the New Hampshire Bar Foundation, David was responsible for raising funds amongst the legal and banking communities to assist with legal services for the poor. As a member of the Concord, New Hampshire school board, Mr. Snyder chaired the facilities committee during a time when the community was evaluating the renovation and consolidation of their eight elementary schools.

Public education and community assistance for those in need has been a focus of David’s life for the past thirty years. Having begun his career in nonprofit management in the arts, he has served as the Grants Officer for the NH State Council on the Arts, the Director of Philanthropy for the American Red Cross and the Operations Director for the League of NH Craftsmen.

David currently serves on the board of the Novato Human Needs Center and formerly served on the board of the NH Writers Project, CONFR – Council on Fundraising, NH Odyssey of the Mind, and as an elected member of the Concord NH School Board. Mr. Snyder is a current member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and received his Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation in the spring of 2009.
