Getting Started

It is easy to become a donor and create your own fund. The Richmond Community Foundation offers the following funds:

  • Testamentary Funds: Also known as bequests, testamentary funds are used to guarantee that your charitable intentions are fulfilled after you have passed on. The fund can be established with a gift from your estate, either immediately by bequest or after a period of time through a planned gift. RCF will help you write a fund agreement that describes how you would like the fund to operate. A copy of the agreement is kept with your estate documents as well as at RCF so that we may plan for and execute your wishes accurately.
  • Agency Funds: Established by a non-profit agency for the benefit of the non-profit agency. Our community foundation distributes the annual net earnings back to the agency for purposes established by the agency.
  • Community Impact Fund (Unrestricted Funds):These unrestricted funds support RCF's competitive grant making programs. However, we go beyond simply making grants that advance charitable activities. The Foundation also identifies current and emerging issues, channel resources to address our community’s needs, and help the region prepare for the future through this fund.
