Brookside Community Health Center
The Brookside Community Health Center, in partnership with other organizations, operates the Ronald McDonald Mobile Dental Clinic which offers preventative and restorative dental care to low income children. With a grant from RCF, the Brookside Community Health Center brought the Ronald McDonald Mobile Dental Clinic to three community festivals and provided a dental screening, fluoride varnish and a dental goodie bag to hundreds of Richmond children who have no other access to dental care.
Building Blocks for Kids
Building Blocks for Kids (BBK) is a place-based collaborative focused on Community Change in the Iron Triangle Neighborhood. This initiative brings together more than 27 organizations to support the healthy development and education of all children and self-sufficiency of all families by engaging the community, block by block. Under its discretionary grants program, RCF supports the development of BBK's Promise Neighborhoods program and the BBKamp Summer Program at Peres Elementary School.
Original Richmond Half Steppers
The Original Richmond Half Steppers provides young people with the opportunity to excel in track and field events. The organization develops personal discipline, sportsmanship and self-esteem of each child and youth. In partnership with RCF's Health Action Team, the Half Steppers have developed a walking program which matches the athletes with local seniors in weekly low impact walking.
RES, Inc.
Richmond College Prep Schools is a preschool to Grade 5 public charter elementary school which helps students achieve high academic standards using a model of increased adult interaction with students, an extended school year and school day, and enhanced curriculum, and the use of data by teachers and administrators to inform instruction. Under its Education Pillar, RCF provides general operating support to the school and has funded the Summer Literacy Festival led by the school in partnership with West County Reads and other organizations which gave books to over 500 children to encourage summer reading.
Richmond Main Street
Richmond Main Street is a community based organization dedicated to r vitalizing historic downtown Richmond. Through its discretionary grants, RCF has supported an AmeriCorps member at Richmond Main Street to help organize local businesses to promote economic development in downtown Richmond. With support from RCF's Jobs and Economic Development Action Team and the Richmond Housing Authority, Richmond Main Street received funds to develop and implement a Job Fair for residents in the Nystrom area of Richmond, in partnership with the Community Based Employment Collaborative.
RYSE Center
RYSE is a safe and welcoming center for West Contra Costa and Richmond youth (ages 14-21) that builds youth power and leadership towards personal and community health and transformation. Grounded in social justice, RYSE provides comprehensive and holistic programming in the areas of health and wellness, education and employment, arts and culture, and youth leadership and advocacy. Under its Public Safety pillar, RCF supports youth Culture Keepers, who work to prevent youth violence in the City of Richmond and neighboring communities.
