Northern California Summit
In 2009, California continued its trend of making cuts in funding for education and services that support children and youth. These cuts have caused a reduction in programs and services from agencies that provide critical resources and have compromised the 'safety net' for families. During this time of economic crisis, more services are needed for families, not less, and the economic and social payoff for this investment is well documented. In this new decade, we must ensure that every child in California is prepared to achieve at their highest potential. We must continue to work together to make certain this new decade delivers on its promise of HOPE for our children with access to quality education, safe neighborhoods, healthy lifestyles, and a viable future.
The Richmond Community Foundation is a leader in mobilizing financial resources and community leadership to positively impact the transformation of lives in our community. The Northern California Summit on Children and Youth is part of this effort by bringing together educators, nonprofit organizations, community leaders, elected officials, businesses, and area foundations with inspiring speakers and enthusiastic workshop presenters from the field to examine and share innovative approaches, research driven models, and best practices for supporting children, youth and families.
